Why I practice medicine
I wanted to become a dermatologist for many reasons, but mostly because I saw how dermatologists were able to make significant impacts on the quality of patients’ lives every day. Skin diseases are not just uncomfortable, they can also lead to embarrassment and social anxiety. Using our unique understanding of skin diseases and mechanisms of medications we can match these together to get great results for our patients, which ultimately makes me feel like I’ve done something good.
"I think it’s really important to recognize the psychosocial impact of skin disease. When I’m training other providers I implore them to not just think about the physical manifestation of disease when trying to determine what level of treatment is needed, but also how it impacts the daily life of that patient."
